WAR ON GAZA – MADE IN THE U.S.

TUESDAY – JANUARY 13 - 7pm
Location: Calvary Church, 48th & Baltimore – on #34
Subway-Surface Line

PANEL DISCUSSION FEATURING:

• Susie Abulhawa - author Scar of David & founder of
Playgrounds for Palestine
• Sonia Rosen – Eye witness account from Palestine
• Eman Hamad – Network of Arab American Professionals
• Betsey Piette – Philadelphia International Action Center

The entire world is watching with horror and outrage as
Israel, with full U.S. backing, and flouting international
law, has unleashed a full-scale invasion of blockaded
Gaza, with thousands of troops, tanks, and artillery,
while continuing its horrific bombings via air, sea, and
land. There is no end in sight to this criminal, inhuman
all-out assault on the 1.5 million Palestinians living in
Gaza, the most densely populated area in the Middle East,
where the vast majority are refugees, and most people live
in desperate poverty.
With $23 million in military support from the U.S., Israel
broke the cease fire in early November when it bombed
supply tunnels from Gaza to Egypt. The Bush Administration
gave the green light for Israel’s war and has long
supported the occupation of Palestine, allowing Israel to
ignore over 78 UN resolutions aimed at curbing their
expansion into Palestinian lands. It remains to be seen if
a new administration will change these policies.
Unfortunately, people in the U.S. only get Israel’s side
of the conflict, even though our tax dollars are paying
for the devastation. Libraries close in Philadelphia for
lack of funds while U.S. tax dollars pay for Israeli bombs
that kill children in Gaza schools.

Take time to learn more about this conflict and what we
can do in the U.S.
